About Us:

The Lotus Flower is a non-governmental organization which empowers vulnerable women and girls so that they are safe, have opportunities to learn, the tools to become financially independent and the freedom to lead change. We provide safe social spaces inside refugee camps and implement projects to help them rebuild their lives and earn a living. We run four women’s centers for the IDP, refugee and host community in Kurdistan

Our centers implement much-needed livelihood training, language courses, computer training, mental health support, fitness and health training, and awareness sessions and advocacy on women's rights and gender-based violence. 

We aim to provide the foundation for women to rebuild themselves, their families, and their futures. As local implementers, we work at the grassroots level to get right into the heart of communities, listening to local needs and employing local women to implement the programs. Our fundamental belief is that women and girls are powerful drivers of change, and we provide the support they need to reach their full potential and rebuild their futures.

Main duties and responsibilities:

·       Actively identify protection concerns of children and respond to them in an effective and timely manner in close coordination with project PSS facilitators and community mobilizers.

·       Use appropriate formats for documenting and referring child protection interventions

·       Maintain accurate records of protection concerns identified and responded to as per agreed formats.

·       Ensure Humanitarian Accountability Principles are mainstreamed in the day-to-day project implementation.

·       Work closely with project facilitators to design and implement PSS activities which will mainly focus on child and youth resilience programs as well as parenting sessions.

·       Conduct Home visits and follow-up for cases as assigned by the supervisor.

·       Attend and actively participate in the weekly staff meeting to debrief and plan for project activities.

·       Conduct monitoring visits to the hospital, police and other areas identified as hot spots.

·       Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all phases of client management and documentation.

·       Work closely with UNHCR community volunteers to prepare capacity building sessions in accordance with the project plan.

·       Monitor and support the implementation of community volunteers initiatives that will take place in Duhok city. Ensure that activities are culturally acceptable and according to the needs of the target community.

·       Follow-up on the conduct activities and provide feedback to the Project Assessment on gaps and areas of improvement for appropriate support

·       Assist in preparing daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, progress notes, and treatment plans on time.

·       Use appropriate data collection tools and submit assessments and reports in a timely and accurate manner.   

·       With supervision of PSS supervisor, compile safety audit reports and share in a timely manner.

Qualifications and preferred skills:

·       Bachelor’s degree in social, psychology or other related sciences.

·       Good understanding of child protection in emergencies

·       Confident communicator, excellent coordination and communication skills

·       Very well organized and with good reporting skills 

·       Ability to work under pressure  

·       Work well in teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well

·       Good Computer skills: MS Word and Excel

·       Fluency in Arabic and Kurdish required
