About Us:

The Lotus Flower is a non-governmental organization which empowers vulnerable women and girls so that they are safe, have opportunities to learn, the tools to become financially independent and the freedom to lead change. We provide safe social spaces inside refugee camps and implement projects to help them rebuild their lives and earn a living. We run four women’s centers for the IDP, refugee and host community in Kurdistan 

Our programs are based around pillars from the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals:

Our centers implement much-needed livelihood training, language courses, computer training, mental health support, fitness and health training, and awareness sessions and advocacy on women's rights and gender-based violence. 

We aim to provide the foundation for women to rebuild themselves, their families, and their futures. As local implementers, we work at the grassroots level to get right into the heart of communities, listening to local needs and employing local women to implement the programs. Our fundamental belief is that women and girls are powerful drivers of change, and we provide the support they need to reach their full potential and rebuild their futures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

●      Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the center day-to-day activities in line with internal control procedures to ensure The Lotus Flower’s core values are met and maintained.

●      Managing the center generally, ensures the needs of the center are met.

●      Develop and monitor weekly plans for the center in coordination with the other staff.

●      Prepare schedules for children groups in the center based on their ages.

●      Ensure psychosocial support (PSS) are implemented in the center according to the plans.

●      Monitor the implementation of general activities set in the weekly plan and any other activities conducted by the assigned staff in the center and enable them to manage conflicts while implementing the project's activities.

●      Required to submit a weekly report to line manager on the status of the center and its activities

●      Required to manage and submit all financial documents, including receipts and reports to line manager and finance manager on a monthly basis

●      Responsible for daily financial and logistical procedures for the implementation of different activities in the center

●      Organize weekly and monthly meetings with the staff working in the center and issue the future plans for a better implementation of the duties.

●      Attend meetings with the camp managment/other service providers in the camp or urban areas  to provide all required information about the center’s programs.

●      Responsible for coordination with governmental and non-governmental institutions available in the camp or urban areas for better implementation of effective work done in the center.

●      Responsible for evaluating staff performance and writing staff reviews (community staff).

●      Responsible for the CFS (Child Friendly Space) regarding maintenance and hours of operation.

●      Required to work within the framework of The Lotus Flower’s Code of Conduct, Human Resource policy, and implement the safeguarding policy. The policy documents will be provided on the first day of employment and the new employee will be required to read and sign the documents.

●      Coordinate with the Project Manager in referrals for families who are in need of additional assistance, e.g. for children with serious psychosocial distress.

●      Responsible for the identification of unaccompanied and separated children and ensuring to conduct the needed referrals for them.

●      Any other reasonable task, conducive to the safe and efficient running of the program.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills:

●      Educational background: Degree in social work, psychology, community development or related field

●      Minimum 3 years of demonstrated management experience, at least 1 of which is in non-governmental organization, ideally involved in the direct implementation of field

●      Previous experience in working at humanitarian level “assistance to refugees or IDPs”.

●      Long-standing experiences and technical knowledge in the field of child protection,

●      Having background on Children’s rights, awareness raising, referral systems and psychosocial support

●      Knowledge of Psychosocial support (PSS), First aid (PFA), Case management (CM) and Gender-based violence (GBV).

●      Knowledge on Department of Labor and Social Affairs (DOLSA) official guidelines,

●      Standard Operating Procedures for Child Protection Case.

●      Proficient in written and spoken Kurdish and Arabic. English is considered as an asset.

●      Understanding of the situation of the region and commitment to humanitarian principles.

●      Proven experiences in human resource management such as staff monitoring, supervision, support including regular constructive feedback and appraisal.

●      Excellent computer skills of Microsoft such as Word and Excel.

●      Demonstrated track record of report writing and communication skills including strong negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
