About Us

The Lotus Flower is a non-governmental organization which empowers vulnerable women and girls so that they are safe, have opportunities to learn, the tools to become financially independent and the freedom to lead change. We provide safe social spaces inside refugee camps and implement projects to help them rebuild their lives and earn a living. We run four women’s centers for the IDP, refugee and host community in Kurdistan

Our centers implement much-needed livelihood training, language courses, computer training, mental health support, fitness and health training, and awareness sessions and advocacy on women's rights and gender-based violence. 

We aim to provide the foundation for women to rebuild themselves, their families, and their futures. As local implementers, we work at the grassroots level to get right into the heart of communities, listening to local needs and employing local women to implement the programs. Our fundamental belief is that women and girls are powerful drivers of change, and we provide the support they need to reach their full potential and rebuild their futures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Design and conduct a training needs assessment for the Community Based Organization (CBO) on the technical capacity but also the organizational capacity.

·       Supervise the process of grant provision of a number of CBOs in Domiz 1 and Domiz 2 camps and ensure the process of seeping grants by CBOs is in accordance with project procedures and requirements.

·       Based on the assessment and in coordination with the Protection safeguarding assistant and deputy project manager, design a training plan and prepare training modules and materials.

·       Lead development of capacity building strategy for the project detailing the approach, processes at each level, methodologies and quality assurance mechanism

·       Facilitate development of the training plan including budget and logistics requirements as per timelines detailed in the project workplan

·       Undertake Training Needs Assessment, as and when needed

·       Lead development and finalization of training materials in consultation with subject matter experts and other team members, as required.

·       Create an effective monitoring mechanism for tracking training progress and coverage of trainees and a training evaluation system.

·      Establish a quality assurance mechanism and ensure compliance as per established norms

·       Facilitate documentation of the training activities

·       Prepare, present and submit training reports as per project requirements

·       Undertake other tasks, as assigned by the supervisor, for accomplishment of the project objectives.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills:

·       Bachelor degree is favourable, diploma, working experience, social work background preferred.

·       Prior professional experience in a similar post is an asset.

·       Previous work experience with children is an asset.

·       Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and Kurdish is essential. English is an asset.

·       Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing professional environment with a view towards establishing administrative procedures and protocol that will ensure optimal functioning of the operation.

·       Good interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.

·       Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion.

Superb Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint), and other software applicable to the area of work

·       Personal Competencies: Collaborative spirit and ability to work independently as well as in a team; commitment to knowledge sharing and teamwork; positive attitude and ability to see through challenges to find solutions; and strong interpersonal skills and an ability to clearly communicate, including complex concepts into layperson language.
